The magazine, founded and sponsored by the London Guitar Studio, was the first English-language flamenco periodical. Sold by subscription, it was read in over 20 countries and back issues are still in demand.

The one-person Madrid office focussed on commissioning texts from Spanish writers whose work had not been translated into English: Ángel Álvarez Caballero, Pedro Ceballos, José Manuel Gamboa, Alberto García Reyes, Félix Grande, Miguel Ríos Ruiz and Jose Manuel Velázquez Gaztelú. Occasional contributors, via the Madrid office, included French literature professor Pierre Lefranc and Canadian musicologist David Oancia Prieto.

We also commissioned photographers who were developing editorial work outside commercial channels. They included Manuel Rodríguez Redondo and Ana Magariños Sánchez. News pieces were written by young professional journalists and students.

We also published two special supplements: Stretching the Boundaries (on modern flamenco taking new musical paths) and Jerez.
