Edward Booth-Clibborn published John Lennon's lithographs and Marshall McLuhan's newsletter in the 1960s, advised the Labour Party on their electoral posters in the 1970s and was credited with revolutionising the coffee-table book in the 1990s. Having worked with him but never having had time to chat, I wanted to explore what links his work and whether visionary print can survive in the electronic age.
- Sordera and Family in Conversation
- Flamenco International
London, 1999, 3,000 words; extracts
Sordera de Jerez was one of Jerez's great masters of cante. One hot August afternoon he sat down with me to talk about his music, and his brother Sordera Chico and son Vicente Soto Sordera came too. It was a rare chance to talk to a family which has helped to define flamenco song - and is still doing so.
